A cathlab DICOM viewer for angiography (XA)
Most free DICOM viewers were built for CT and MRI, not the cath-lab. PortaDICOM is shaped around real angiography studies — the cine loops and the measurements an interventional cardiologist actually reaches for.
Plays the angiography your lab exports
Cath-lab XA studies are usually multi-frame cine in JPEG-Lossless or JPEG-2000. PortaDICOM decodes both from its own engine and flattens a series into one smooth timeline — play, pause, scrub, and set your own frame rate, with look-ahead caching so playback stays smooth.
The numbers cardiologists use
The measurement set is built for coronary work:
- % diameter stenosis — reference diameter vs minimal lumen on a calibrated frame
- TIMI frame counting with correct cine timing
- AHA coronary segment mapping for clear reporting
- Pre-PCI vs post-PCI side-by-side compare
- Catheter (French-size) and manual calibration for true mm on XA
Portable, and on any PC
It all runs from the SSD with no install and no admin rights, so you can review and measure on the cath-lab PC, a ward computer, or your office — wherever the study is. PortaDICOM is for review and records only; on-screen measurements are operator-confirmed estimates, not a primary diagnostic read.
FAQ
Does it work with my cath-lab brand?
DICOM is vendor-neutral, so PortaDICOM reads studies from any device to the extent of its pixel encoding. For XA it covers uncompressed, RLE, JPEG-Lossless and JPEG-2000 — the vast majority of real exports. Send us one sample study and we’ll confirm before you buy.
