The scan that just won’t open — solved

Every PortaDICOM feature answers a moment you already know too well.

A patient brings a scan CD from another hospital — and it won’t open on the clinic computer.

Plug in the SSD, double-click — the study opens straight away.

You can’t install software on a locked-down hospital or shared PC.

Nothing to install. PortaDICOM runs from the drive on any Windows PC.

Studies are stuck on one machine — nothing travels to your other hospitals or clinics.

Carry every case on the drive — 2 TB to search, compare and teach from.

The patient asks what the scan shows — and there’s no quick way to measure or report it.

Measure on screen and print a clean PDF report in seconds.

How it works

Plug in. Double-click. Done.

No IT ticket, no setup wizard, no waiting. Three steps from drive to report.

1

Plug in the SSD

Insert the PortaDICOM drive into any Windows PC. No drivers, no setup wizard, no IT ticket.

2

Double-click to launch

The viewer opens from the drive itself — no installation and no admin rights required.

3

Open, measure, report

Load a study from a CD, USB or folder. Take measurements and print a clean PDF — in under a minute.

What’s inside

A full radiology viewer, built from scratch

No borrowed DICOM libraries — every layer is ours, so it stays fast, clean and license-safe.

Every common modality

CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound and angiography — 8/16-bit, signed/unsigned, MONOCHROME and RGB.

From-scratch DICOM engine

No third-party DICOM libraries. The parser, pixel pipeline and codecs are all ours — clean and license-safe.

Smooth cine playback

Multi-frame XA loops play back with look-ahead caching. Play, pause, scrub, and set your own fps.

Real measurements

Length in mm, angles, elliptical ROI with mean/SD/min/max, and a live pixel probe in Hounsfield units.

Window / level & presets

One-drag window/level plus presets for soft tissue, lung, bone, brain and abdomen. Invert, fit, reset.

Case library on the drive

Import studies into a clean, deduped, browsable tree. One click mirrors your whole archive as a backup.

Built for the cath-lab

Cardiology measurements that actually get used

Shaped around real angiography studies — the numbers an interventional cardiologist reaches for, right where they need them. See the cathlab viewer details.

% diameter stenosis

Reference diameter vs minimal lumen on a calibrated frame — the number cath-labs ask for most.

TIMI frame counting

Step frame-by-frame with correct cine timing to count flow and find the end-diastolic frame.

AHA coronary segments

Map lesions to standard AHA segments for clear, shareable angiography reporting.

Pre / post-PCI compare

Put two runs side by side to show the result of the intervention at a glance.

Safe by design

Your studies stay yours

Local, offline, and locked to the drive it ships on.

Licensed to the drive

Each SSD is licensed to itself — it can’t be copied to another drive. One drive, one license.

Your data never leaves

Everything runs locally on the drive and the PC. No cloud upload, nothing to leak — ideal for air-gapped clinics.

Built for clinicians

Radiology mouse gestures, keyboard shortcuts and a patient banner that keeps you oriented, case after case.

Questions

Good to know

Does it really need no installation?

Correct. PortaDICOM runs directly from the SSD with no installer and no admin rights — exactly what locked-down hospital and shared PCs require. You double-click a launcher after plugging the drive in.

Is it compatible with all cathlab devices?

DICOM is vendor-neutral, so PortaDICOM reads studies from any device to the extent of its pixel encoding. For cardiac XA it covers uncompressed, RLE, JPEG Lossless and JPEG 2000 — which together account for the vast majority of real-world angiography exports. Send us one sample study per device and we confirm coverage before you buy.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. The viewer is fully offline. Your studies stay on the drive and the local machine — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Which operating system does it run on?

Windows today, shipped pre-loaded on a 2 TB SSD. macOS and Linux builds are on the roadmap.

Can I use it for diagnosis?

No. PortaDICOM is for review and records only. On-screen measurements are operator-confirmed estimates. Primary diagnostic use requires regulatory clearance (FDA 510(k) / EU MDR), which is on our roadmap.

How is it priced?

The natural unit is one license per SSD (per device). Per-site licensing is also available. Contact us for current pricing and a free demo on your own studies.
